Standing orders
  • Set your orders.
  • Keep your word.
  • Back your crew.

Give your day a heading.

Each morning you set Today’s Orders — a short list of real duties, up to five. Commit at noon, log each one as you go, and stand the Watch. A measurable Order asks how much you actually did; meeting the target completes it once, and extra effort counts as Overtime.

The Watch is deliberately short. Five active habits is the ceiling — so the list stays a commitment, not a backlog.

Your progress doesn’t disappear at midnight.

The Logbook is the permanent record of your watch — every habit log, every Voyage, the XP you’ve earned and the days you showed up. It doesn’t reset on Monday, and a missed day isn’t a punishment.

Better habits are easier when somebody notices.

At noon your Orders lock in and post to Today’s Watch. Your Crew sees what you committed to and how the day is going — and you see theirs. Encouragement, a bit of banter, and a Clean Sweep when everyone aboard finishes.

“I said I was going to do this today — and my Crew knows I said it.”

A Crew is optional — you can run your Watch solo — but it’s the point of THE HELM, not a bolt-on.

Progression you earned — not a slot machine.

Valid logs earn XP. XP raises your Level and moves you up the Career Ranks, from Deckhand to Master — and the highest rank you reach is yours to keep. Seven-day Voyages give the week a heading; Doubloons are yours to spend.

A Service Record in THE HELM

THE HELM's Service Record: a profile with the current rank Able Seaman, a Level 6 badge, 813 XP earned and a balance of 1,431 Doubloons.

Your effort earns a life aboard.

Doubloons are earned, never bought. Spend them in the Chandlery, fit out your Cabin, and take on a companion. None of it moves your Career or your Crew — it’s the warm corner of the ship you unlock by standing your watch.

Every ship needs a place that’s yours.

Fittings from the Chandlery make the Cabin your own. Adopt Polly or Wolly and build a Bond — a 0–100 measure that grows with daily care and finished Orders, and never decays.

Polly

Proud. Loyal. Always on watch.

Needs the Ship’s Perch.

Wolly

Troublesome. Hungry. Keeps it real.

Needs the Dock Bollard.

Companions and customisation are the reward — not the point. The point is the watch you stood to get here.

Every action leaves a wake.

Better habits. Braver days. Together.
